The ACI Type 323 circular product sight glass is a variation of the Type 321, designed for a wider range of applications, particularly at high temperatures. It is intended for observing and illuminating the interior of sealed containers.
PTFE seals, typically used in the Type 321 sight glass, are no longer reliable at temperatures above 200 °C. To overcome this limitation, the Type 323 uses high-quality graphite composite gaskets, thereby increasing the temperature the sight glass can withstand to 280 °C, or up to 320 °C with a mica disc.
Even at temperatures exceeding the limits specified in DIN 7080, type 323 can be used with non-tempered borosilicate glass up to 400 °C.
If the process conditions pose a problem even for highly resistant borosilicate glass, a specially adapted mica or FEP protective screen for the connection provides additional protection against steam and aggressive chemicals, such as alkalis with a pH value of up to 14.
