Electronic Air Detector (LC Sound)

LC Sound is an ultrasonic air sensor, available with a 2″, 3″ and 4″ square flange. It continuously monitors the presence of air/gas in a supply and, after gas detection, the output relay opens.

The typical application uses the output contact to control a valve or pump, or it can be connected to a smart device (e.g., an electronic flow controller). This technology ensures accurate deliveries with no pressure loss, both at terminal installations and on trucks. LC Sound uses ultrasonic energy to detect the presence or absence of air/gas: high-frequency sound waves are easily transmitted in the presence of liquid, but are attenuated when gas is present. The sensor uses an ultrasonic transducer to transmit a high-frequency pulse: the signal reaches the reflector located on the other side of the flange and returns to the transducer. The signal amplitude level is proportional to the presence of liquid: if air is detected, the output relay opens. The electronic controller algorithm ensures accurate air detection within a maximum of 50 ms and automatically compensates for component ageing, product quality, and flange size, with no periodic maintenance or on-site calibration required.

KEY FEATURES:
– Fast response time (50 ms)
– Self-calibration;
– No periodic maintenance required;
– No moving parts;
– Low weight;
– Compact dimensions provide a simple, tidy installation;
– Negligible pressure loss, resulting in fast, cost-effective deliveries;
– Eliminates the need for an “Air-Check” valve after the meter (in the meter version with 2 LC Sounds);
– Can react to emulsified air during delivery (foam detection);
– Works with petroleum products.
